Offering year around music and art camps for ages 7 thru 15, the National Conservatory of Arts has no-school/out of school camps, winter camps, and spring break camps.  Our camps feature music, art, dance, and creative writing.

Learn,Play and Make the Instrument: Winter Camp

Time:  9:30 am - 3:00 pm before & aftercare are available

Ages: 6-13

Tuition: $285

Before care: 8:15 am - 9:30 am $10

After care: 3:00 - 6:00 pm $15

The National Conservatory of Arts is pleased to announce our Winter Break Music Camp. This is a great way for students to play, learn about, and create musical instruments. Our camp day would start at 9:30 am and it features music instruction on a different instrument each day, art, music theory, music history, arts and crafts, and outdoor activities. By the end of the camp day, which is 3:00 pm, student will have created their own instrument to take home and play.

The schedule is as follows:

Monday, Dec. 31st, 2018 The Ukulele. We will learn about, and make our own ukuleles

Wednesdays, Jan 2nd, 2019 The harmonica. We will be studying and making our own harmonicas

Thursdays, Jan 3rd, 2019 The violin. We will learn about, and make our own violins.

Fridays, Jan 4th, 2019 The drum. We will study, and them create our own drums.

The camp hours are 9:30 am - 3 pm

Before care (8:15 am-9:30 am)

after care (3:00 - 6:00)


 

2-Day Piano Camp: January 22-23, 2019

Ages: 7-15 *Please call if you have siblings and one child is younger than 7-years-old

Tuition: $120 for both days. $65 for one day.

Families can sign up for both days or just one day.

Before Care: 7:30 am - 9:30 am $15

This is a great way for students to play and learn about the piano, guitar, ands ukulele. Students will also have a chance to create and decorate their own musical instrument. Our camp days start at 9:30 am and it features music instruction on the piano each day, art, music theory, music history, arts and crafts, and outdoor activities. By the end of the camp day, which is 3:00 pm, student will have created their own instrument to take home and play.

Students will be able to take their instruments home, either that day, or the next day, depending on the drying time of the glue, adhesives, and paint. Students will also have a chance to learn simple theory and a brief, yet fun and informative overview of various musical composers. If the weather permits, we will have outdoor recess.

This is a great way for students to play and learn about the piano, violin, viola, cello, bass, glockenspiel, or drumset. Students will also have a chance to create and decorate their own musical instrument. Our camp days start at 9:30 am and it features music instruction on the piano each day, art, music theory, music history, arts and crafts, and outdoor activities. By the end of the camp day, which is 3:00 pm, student will have created their own instrument to take home and play.

If you seek an encouraging community of artists where your child can achieve unparalleled musical growth, our piano summer program is the opportunity you've been looking for. Designed for both beginner and intermediate level piano student, you will be guided by an accomplished faculty as you work to develop skills and grow as a musician and artist. Sessions are one week in duration, and dates can be mixed and matched at your convenience.

At NCA, students will learn with fellow students from around the DMV and the world, who share their love and enthusiasm for music. Your child will expand their knowledge and build or improve their abilities through daily piano literature, piano ensemble, performance, and master classes. Students will also learn or improve their sight-reading and functional keyboard skills, as well as collaborative piano skills. In this supportive environment, they will have access to many pianos throughout our facility.

The summer piano program includes

  • Weekly private lessons with a member of the distinguished piano faculty and dedicated practice time on days when no lesson is scheduled.

  • An additional daily practice time is also built into the student’s schedule.

  • Piano skills and performance strategies classes, that focus on developing functional keyboard skills through technique study and keyboard theory, in a small group setting.

  • Students also take one piano elective class. The options are beginning jazz piano or beginning and intermediate piano composition.

Each session of this program is one week long, and students are welcome to attend one or all sessions. A multiple session discount is offered. EARLY BIRD SPECIAL $125 per week (good until April 21).

Children’s Symphony Summer Program

Grades 2-9

NCA’s String Orchestra Camp is a summer music program directed by Andrew Lee, Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of DC Strings, offering student musicians the unique opportunity of spending one, two, or all six weeks immersed in music education and performance training with members of the world-renowned DC Strings Orchestra. Sessions are one week in duration, and dates can be mixed and matched at your convenience.

Our outstanding summer music programs include private lessons, master classes and casual faculty recitals with members of The DC String Orchestra; daily orchestra, ensemble and chamber music rehearsals; daily course electives including conducting and piano. Students will also have ample solo performance opportunities.

The summer string orchestra program includes:
